Indoor Air Quality Services in DFW

Expedition HVAC is more than an AC company — we’re DFW’s dedicated indoor air quality specialists. If your family is sneezing, sleeping poorly, or dealing with dust that never goes away, your air system is part of the problem. We fix that.

Why DFW Homes Have an Air Quality Problem

The Dallas–Fort Worth area consistently ranks among the worst in the country for seasonal allergies — cedar fever, oak, ragweed, and grass pollen hit hard and hit long. But here’s what most homeowners don’t realize: the air inside your home can be 2–5 times more polluted than the air outside, even on high-allergen days. Your HVAC system is constantly cycling that air. Without the right filtration and purification, it’s also cycling dust, mold spores, pet dander, VOCs from cleaning products, and bacteria — right back into the rooms your family lives in.

Who This Matters Most For

🤧 Allergy & Asthma Sufferers

Upgraded filtration and UV purification can dramatically reduce airborne triggers.

👶 Families with Young Children

Kids’ immune systems are more vulnerable to airborne contaminants.

🏠 New Construction Homeowners

Brand-new homes are tightly sealed and trap VOCs from building materials, paint, and adhesives.

🐾 Pet Owners

Dander and odor management require more than a standard filter.

💼 Small Business Owners

Employee health, customer comfort, and odor control all start with air quality.

Start Here: The Healthy Home Air Audit

Most HVAC companies treat air quality as an afterthought — something they mention at the end of a service call to sell you an add-on. We do it differently.

Our Healthy Home Air Audit is a dedicated, full-system air quality assessment — not a sales pitch. We evaluate:

  • ✓ Current filtration level and filter condition
  • ✓ Ductwork for leaks, gaps, and contamination points
  • ✓ Indoor humidity levels (mold loves anything above 60%)
  • ✓ Ventilation adequacy for your home’s size and construction
  • ✓ Existing air handler condition — coil cleanliness, drain pan, biological growth
  • ✓ Carbon monoxide risk assessment
  • ✓ VOC and odor sources if present

After the audit, we walk you through what we found — in plain language, not HVAC jargon — and give you a prioritized list of improvements ranked by impact and cost. You decide what to act on. Zero pressure.

Indoor Air Quality Services in DFW

From basic filtration upgrades to whole-home purification systems, we install and service every layer of indoor air quality improvement.

Whole-Home Air Purification

UV-C and PCO purification systems installed directly into your ductwork — they work 24/7 to neutralize bacteria, viruses, mold spores, VOCs, and odors as air passes through. Far more effective than portable room units.

Price range: $600 – $1,200 installed

UV Light Installation

Germicidal UV lights installed at your air handler coil prevent mold and bacteria from growing inside the system and getting distributed through your home. One of the highest-ROI IAQ upgrades available.

Price range: $200 – $400 installed

Filtration Upgrades (MERV-Rated Media Filters)

Standard 1-inch filters capture almost nothing. We install 4-inch media filter systems with MERV 11–13 ratings that capture fine dust, pollen, dander, and smoke particles without restricting airflow.

Price range: $250 – $500 installed

Humidifier & Dehumidifier Installation

DFW summers drive humidity into mold territory. Texas winters dry your air out. Whole-home humidity control keeps your home in the 40–55% range year-round — the sweet spot for comfort, health, and system efficiency.

Price range: $900 – $2,900 installed

IAQ Questions from DFW Homeowners

How do I know if I have an indoor air quality problem?

Common signs include excessive dust buildup, musty or stale odors, allergy symptoms that are worse indoors than outside, visible mold near vents or on walls, and humidity issues (condensation on windows, sticky air in summer). If you’re not sure, an air quality assessment is the best place to start.

Is a whole-home purifier worth it vs. a portable air purifier?

Portable units clean the air in one room. A whole-home system installed in your ductwork cleans all the air in your house — every room, every cycle — automatically. For most homes, a whole-home system is significantly more effective at the same or lower total cost compared to buying portable units for multiple rooms.

How often does a UV light need maintenance?

UV bulbs typically need replacing every 1–2 years. The fixture itself is low-maintenance. We’ll remind you when it’s time during your regular tune-up visit.

Can air quality improvements help with pet odors?

Yes — activated carbon filtration and PCO-based purifiers are particularly effective at neutralizing pet odors and dander. UV lights help with the biological side (bacteria from accidents, etc.).

Do you offer IAQ services for businesses, not just homes?

Yes. We assess and install IAQ solutions for small-to-mid-size commercial spaces — offices, restaurants, medical waiting rooms, retail, and more. See our commercial HVAC page for details.

Is financing available for IAQ upgrades?

Yes — IAQ upgrades can be included in our financing options. See financing details here.
